Our Beliefs

The Bible:

We believe that Scripture was given by the inspiration of God and is therefore free from error (inerrant). We believe Scripture to be the final authority on all matters to which it speaks specifically or in principle. 2 Tim. 3:16, 17; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; Matt. 5:18; John 16:12,13

The Trinity:

We Believe in God, who is eternal and self-existent, revealed as one being in three persons, father, son, and Holy Spirit, and the creator of all things. Gen 1:1; Deut 6:4; Ps 86:9-10; Isa 43:10-11; Matt 28.19, Mk 12:29; Jn 1:1-3

The Person and Work of Jesus Christ:

We believe Jesus is the eternal Son of God. He is fully God and took upon Himself full humanity at His incarnation. We believe in the virgin birth of Jesus, His perfect and sinless life, and His substitutionary death on the cross. We believe that three days after His death, He was physically resurrected from the dead signifying that God the Father accepted His sacrifice for sin and establishing His victory over death and the grave. Phil. 2:5-11;John 1:1, 2, 14; Luke 1:35; Rom. 3:24; 1 Peter 2:24; Eph. 1:7; 1 Peter 1:3–5

Salvation:

Salvation is a free gift of God that comes through faith in Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection, not through works. Eph. 1:7, 2:8–10; John 1:12; 1 Peter 1:18–19

Sin:

We believe that mankind was created in the image of God. Through the sin of Adam, mankind rebelled against God and became sinners by nature. Mankind is now separated from God, lacking the ability and means to pay the sin debt owed to God. We are, therefore, justly condemned. Gen. 1:26, 27; Rom. 3:22, 23, 5:12; Eph. 2:1–3,12

The Holy Spirit:

The Holy Spirit helps believers, cleanses them, and empowers them for service. The Holy Spirit also inspires unity, worship, and service within the church. John 16:8–11; 2 Cor. 3:6; 1 Cor.12:12–14; Rom. 8:9; Eph. 5:18

Baptism:

Baptism symbolizes Christ’s burial and resurrection, and the new life of a Christian. Matt 28:19-20; Mk 16:16; Acts 10:47-48; 2:38-39; Rom 6:4-5; Col 2:12

The Church:

We believe that the church, the body of Christ, is the community of people who confess faith in Jesus Christ. While universal, the church is local in expression and witness. It exists for worship, fellowship, evangelism, discipleship, and mission. Gifts of ministry are given by Christ to strengthen and mature the church. Eph 1:22-23; 2:22; Heb 12:23

Marriage:

We believe that God created marriage to be exclusively the union between one man and one woman, and that sexual intimacy is to occur exclusively within that union. Gen 2:24, Jer 29:6, Isaiah 62:5, Lev 18:22, Lev 20:13

The Consummation:

We believe in the return of Jesus Christ to judge the living and the dead. At the time of the end there will be a new heaven and new earth. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead, both the just and the unjust: the just to everlasting life and bliss, the unjust to everlasting punishment. Isaiah 2:4; 11:9; Matt. 16:27; Luke 12:40,48; 16:19-26; Acts 1:11; 17:31; Rom. 14:10; 2 Peter 3:7ff.; 1 John 2:28; 3:2; Jude 14; Rev. 1:18; 3:11; 20:1-22:13
